Goal 1: To instill in graduates a strong understanding of the principles and practices of radiation oncology to successfully perform as entry-level radiation therapists.

Student Learning Outcomes:

  • Students will demonstrate the ability to back-point accurately.
  • Students will demonstrate the ability to accurately use imaging to assist with patient set-ups.
  • Graduates will pass the ARRT National Certification Exam.
  • Students will prove a strong understanding of billing and budget.

Goal 2: To create an intellectual experience that stimulates student’s critical thinking/problem-solving skills, and generates an appreciation for Radiation Oncology as a profession.

Student Learning Outcomes:

  • Students will demonstrate the ability to analyze an isodose plan.
  • Students will demonstrate the importance of patient positioning in accurate treatment delivery.
  • Students will demonstrate the ability to correlate textbook data and actual case study data.
  • Students will apply didactic knowledge to assessment items that cover all knowledge levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy (knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation).

Goal 3: To develop graduates who will behave in a professional manner.

  • Students will demonstrate professional behavior in the clinical setting
  • The graduate will demonstrate professionalism while working in the clinical setting

Goal 4: To develop students with effective communication skills.

Student Learning Outcomes:

  • Students will demonstrate good oral communication skills
  • Students will demonstrate effective skills when interacting with patients
  • Students will demonstrate good written communication skills

Goal 5: To develop students who will recognize the need for life-long learning.

  • Students will demonstrate the need to pursue outside resources to expand their knowledge
