Career Studies Certificate (Business, Technology & Trades)

Welding & Metal Processing

Programs & Training at Virginia Western > Skilled Trades > Welding & Metal Processing

Start toward a rewarding career as a welder with the Virginia Western Welding & Metal Processing CSC. This comprehensive program will train you in several types of welding techniques including Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) as well as metal fabrication.

What skills will I gain?

The Virginia Western Welding & Metal Processing CSC prepares you for entry-level positions in production-type welding and metal fabrication. Gain valuable hands-on experience from knowledgeable instructors and learn how different welding techniques are utilized in manufacturing, fabrication and maintenance.

What certifications will I earn?

By completing the Welding & Metal Processing Program, you’ll have the opportunity to earn industry-recognized certifications through the American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welder program. These valuable credentials demonstrate your skills and readiness to employers.

Students can earn AWS certifications in FCAW, GTAW, GMAW and SMAW welding processes along with their CSC. With flexible day and night class options available, this program is designed to fit your existing schedule and support your goals.

Why choose Virginia Western?

Virginia Western makes it easy to continue your education beyond the Welding & Metal Processing CSC. After earning your CSC, you can go straight into the workforce or add a second CSC like Autonomous Vehicle Technology or Maintenance Technology for a customized Technical Studies Associate of Applied Science degree (upon dean approval).

What Classes Do I Take?
