The Aviation Maintenance Technology (Airframe and Powerplant) Associate of Applied Science Degree provides students with a background to qualify for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) mechanic’s certificate with both airframe and powerplant ratings, along with the general education skills to enhance their technical skills. Students will be able to pursue the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Certification as a mechanic with either an airframe, powerplant, or airframe and powerplant rating.
This program is offered in partnership with Blue Ridge Community College.
First year courses are taken online from Blue Ridge Community College. Second year lab courses will be taught at the BRCC campus located in Weyers Cave.
General Education requirement courses can be taken through Virginia Western either in person or online. All AMT classes are required to be taken through BRCC.
To Apply
Students interested in the Aviation Maintenance program must meet the following conditions:
- Apply for admission to Blue Ridge Community College.
- Be eligible to take ENG 111
- Have successfully completed MTH 111 or higher before beginning AMT courses
- Submit an AMT Application.
- Complete a drug screening and Shenandoah Valley Security Screening — an enrollment specialist will contact you with details
