The Virginia Western Associate of Applied Science in Technical Studies is designed to give you the flexibility to choose a curriculum that’s right for you. Combine two complementary Career Studies Certificates (CSC), or one CSC with appropriate supporting classes, to create a customized academic plan that fits your needs.
This program requires an additional application (see below) which must be completed with the help of an advisor.
Examples of complementary CSC programs include:
- Electrical Wiring & Commercial Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (HVAC)
- Legal Office Assisting & Criminal Justice: Foundations
- Medical Office Specialist & Business Communications
Don’t feel limited to just these options–if you have a plan and a clear goal in mind, any combination of CSCs may be possible. Once you’ve selected your programs:
- Make an appointment with the dean of BTT to create your customized degree plan and gain approval.
- Finalize your academic plan and class schedule with a program advisor.
Accelerate your academic plan with Credit for Prior Learning
You may have earned skills and knowledge through learning in an office, on a factory floor, in the military or through other life experiences. With Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) you can receive college credit for previous work experience and accelerate your educational goals. Using CPL towards a Technical Studies AAS allows you to save time and money by building on your existing knowledge and helping you gain new career opportunities.
