Reports to: Dean of Health Professions (FA186)
Under the supervision of the Dean of Health Professions, the Administrative Officer for the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Program will serve as the lead in pursuit of programmatic accreditation ensuring that the program is in compliance with all laws and regulations of the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). In addition, the Administrative Officer for PTA Program will be responsible for the development of the program.
Work Tasks & Duties (Year One)
Accreditation (75%)
- Responsible for submission of the application for candidacy report to the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE)
- Attend Developing Program Workshop and Self-study Workshop prior to submission of candidacy application
- Once status of Candidate has been achieved, responsible for completion of Self-study Report due 60 days prior to scheduled on-site visit
- Communicates, reports, and interprets program requirements, objectives, and CAPTE requirements to administration and other departments
- Collects and organizes data necessary in pursuit of CAPTE accreditation to include the initial candidacy report, development of self-study required to deliver a PTA program
Program Development (25%)
- Maintain knowledge and currency regarding the program and the policies and procedures by which it will be administered
- In collaboration with the Dean, responsible for developing and documenting policies and procedures, planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating all aspects of the program. Re-examines and modifies as necessary
- Develops, implements, and monitors department budget; pursues other funding sources such as grants
- Attends meetings as the department representative
- Chairs Curriculum Advisory Committee
- Serves on hiring committee for program faculty
