Computer and information technology is designed to prepare students for employment in the fields of cyber security, networking, software design, data collection and manipulation, web applications, and database and program developer. Within many of our courses the students have opportunities to receive industry certifications. Courses are taught with an applied approach giving our students opportunities to learn from practice exercises. Virginia Western offers opportunities for students interested in transferable computer science degrees or information technology degrees to prepare them for employment.

AS & AA: Associate of Science and Associate of Arts: prepare students to transfer to a 4-year institution
AAS: Associate of Applied Science: prepare students to directly enter the workforce with limited transferability
Certificate & Career Studies Certificate: 1-2 year programs that prepare students to directly enter the workforce
Credentials & Career Skills: Short-term training that prepares students to directly enter the workforce with recognizable credentials and training (non-credit)
