Agriculture
The Career Studies Certificate (CSC) in Agriculture at Virginia Western provides foundational knowledge in local plant and animal agriculture. You’ll learn animal and plant science, business finance management, government policies and regulations affecting agriculture, as well as the latest agricultural technologies and their applications.
Why Choose Agriculture?
The Virginia Western Agriculture CSC emphasizes hands-on experience with animals and plants, providing you with real world skills for a new career. Learn how to cultivate your own crops and livestock for independent food security or start your own small agriculture-based business.
Why choose Virginia Western?
The Virginia Western Agriculture program lets you choose the academic path that’s right for you. Start with a Career Studies Certificate to strengthen your understanding of agribusiness to go straight into the workforce or continue to earn an Associate of Science degree that will prepare you to transfer to a four-year university. With the Virginia Western Technical Studies program, you can combine your Agriculture CSC with another CSC for a customized Technical Studies Associate of Applied Science degree (pending dean approval). Combine your Agriculture CSC with the Autonomous Vehicle Technology CSC to learn how automated technology is changing agribusiness or combine it with a CSC in Biotechnology to learn how new scientific processes have impacted crop cultivation, nutrition and food security.
