The Director of Student Support Services provides visionary leadership and strategic direction for student-centered initiatives designed to enhance student well-being, retention, and success. This role ensures all students have access to vital non-academic resources that remove barriers to their personal, academic, and career goals.

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Student Affairs, the Director works collaboratively across divisions and with external stakeholders to create a holistic support ecosystem for students.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Program Oversight – 30%
- Provide dynamic leadership for student support services, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and best practices.
- Develop and implement holistic student success strategies that address financial, social, emotional, and career-related barriers.
- Utilize data-driven decision-making to assess program effectiveness, identify service gaps, and enhance student support structures.
- Lead cross-campus initiatives to integrate student services with academic, workforce and career pathways.
Student Advocacy & Holistic Support – 25%
- Serve as a primary advocate for students facing challenges such as financial hardship, food insecurity, disability-related needs, and mental health concerns.
- Provides leadership for Student Conduct ensuring timely intervention and effective case management.
- Strengthen the Great Expectations Program, ensuring at-risk and foster youth receive specialized mentorship and guidance.
- Expand career, mental health and wellness services, implementing strategies that promote emotional resilience.
- Collaborate with faculty and student services staff to develop early intervention and wraparound support systems.
Collaboration & External Partnerships – 20%
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with local agencies, workforce organizations, and community support services to enhance student access to critical resources.
- Work closely with Advising Services, Financial Aid, Academic Affairs, Workforce Solutions, Care/Threat Team, Campus Police, College Foundation and Student Life to foster a seamless student experience.
- Integrate Career Center services into student support programs, enhancing career readiness, internships, and employment opportunities.
- Lead outreach initiatives to increase awareness of available student support services.
Policy Development & Compliance – 10%
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies, including ADA, Clery Act, and student well-being regulations.
- Develop and implement policies that promote open access and retention for all students.
Resource Management & Professional Development – 10%
- Manage budgets, staffing, and resources to ensure sustainability and efficiency within Student Support Services.
- Provide professional development opportunities for faculty and staff to enhance student support capabilities.
- Foster a culture of care, accountability, and innovation within the Student Support Services unit.
- Stay informed on emerging trends in student success, restorative student conduct practices, mental health, and career readiness.
Other Duties as Assigned – 5%
- Support special projects, institutional initiatives, and strategic planning efforts as assigned by the Vice President of Student Affairs.
- Serve on committees and workgroups as needed.
- Assist with crisis response and emergency management initiatives.
