On Friday, September 25, 2026, Virginia Western will celebrate an important milestone in its history with the investiture of our fifth president. To encourage broad participation, the College will operate under a slimmed staffing model allowing employees to step away from their regular work responsibilities to attend the ceremony. Supervisors are asked to work collaboratively with their teams to make every effort to support employee participation while maintaining the essential services our students and visitors rely upon.
Processing FAculty
Faculty are invited to participate in the academic processional. Faculty presence in academic regalia is one of the most visible and cherished traditions of an investiture ceremony, symbolizing the academic excellence and dedication that define Virginia Western. Faculty members who wish to participate and whose teaching schedules conflict with the ceremony are encouraged to work with their dean in advance to determine whether appropriate arrangements can be made, including the provision of a meaningful alternative learning activity for students.
Processing FAculty Schedule
9 AM | Faculty participating in the processional will arrive with their regalia in HP208/210 to line up with their dean.
9:30 AM | A chartered bus will transport processing faculty to the Jefferson Center.
10 AM | The formal installation of Dr. Laura J. Treanor as the fifth president of Virginia Western Community College.
11:30 AM | A chartered bus will transport participating faculty back to HP208/210.
RSVP
Faculty participating in the investiture ceremony processional will need to RSVP using the Faculty Processional Form by August 19.
ACADEMIC REGALIA
Faculty participating in the investiture ceremony processional will need to wear academic regalia. If you require academic regalia to be rented on your behalf, please note it on the Faculty Processional Form by August 19. We can not accommodate orders received after this deadline.
Chartered Bus & Parking
Due to parking limitations at the Jefferson Center, all Virginia Western faculty and staff are expected to park on campus and travel to the ceremony via chartered bus and/or College van. If you require an accommodation to participate, please note your needs on the Faculty Processional Form by August 19.
Non-Processing FAculty & Staff
Managers will determine required staffing levels to ensure continuity of services in all campus locations and departments. Those who are designated by their supervisor to stay on campus will ensure students and visitors’ needs are met. All others are invited to serve in vital event staff roles at the Jefferson Center. Non-Processing FAculty Schedule
8 AM | Non-processing faculty and staff serving in vital event staff roles during the inauguration will arrive in business attire in HP208/210.
8:15 AM | A chartered bus and/or College van will transport non-processing faculty and staff to the Jefferson Center.
8:30 AM | Non-processing faculty and staff will receive a brief training, then begin serving in their event staff roles.
10 AM | The formal installation of Dr. Laura J. Treanor as the fifth president of Virginia Western Community College; non-processing faculty and staff are encouraged to join the audience to witness the investiture ceremony.
11:30 AM | A chartered bus will transport non-processing faculty and staff back to HP208/210.
