Virginia Western measures student success as “students who, by the following fall, had graduated from Virginia Western, transferred to a four-year institution prior to graduation, or were still enrolled at Virginia Western.”
Goal 1: At least 65% of curricular (program-placed) students will have a “successful status” the following fall.
Conclusion: Virginia Western has met this goal the past 5 academic years, and student success among program-placed student peaked at 71% in 2017-2018.
Goal 2: At least 75% of dual enrollment students will have a “successful status” the following fall.
Conclusion: After not meeting the 75% goal in 2018-2019, the dual enrollment success rate rose to 80%, meeting the goal of 75%.
Goal 3: At least 85% of the credits taken by non-curricular students will be completed successfully.
Conclusion: Virginia Western has met this goal for the past five academic years, with 86% of non-curricular students successfully completing their credits in academic year 2019-2020.
