What to do…
- … at the end of the day: Save your open documents and lock the screen with Windows + L. No need to shut down.
- … overnight or at home: Lock the session. When you sign back in later you will resume exactly where you left off.
- … before the weekend (or anytime you are away more than 24 hours): Log out fully so the desktop can pick up scheduled maintenance.
Additional things to note
- Monday start-up lag: Every weekend all desktops shut down and restart to apply security updates and configuration changes. This applies only to access through the Horizon Client, not thin clients.
- CTRL-ALT-INS, not CTRL-ALT-DEL: On a PC or laptop using the Horizon Client, use CTRL-ALT-INS while inside the desktop. Pressing the wrong combination simply prompts you, no harm done.
If Something Goes Wrong
- Confirm your internet is working. If you are off-campus, open a regular website first.
- Close and reopen the Omnissa Horizon Client or browser and sign in again.
- On a thin client, restart it: hold the front power button or briefly unplug the power.
- If the desktop is slow, save your work, disconnect, and reconnect after a few minutes.
