ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To apply for a Foundation scholarship you must:

• Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0
  
  
• Be a high school graduate or have a GED
  
  
• Enroll in a minimum of six (6) credits, unless the scholarship you are applying for requires you to enroll full-time. Full-time enrollment is defined as being enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits per semester for students excluding those in the Nursing Program. Full-time enrollment for students enrolled in the Nursing Program is 10 credits per semester.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION

The Educational Foundation is utilizing an online application process
and ONLY online applications will be accepted.

Before beginning the online application process assemble the required information below. Please note, you CANNOT save your application once you begin, you must complete the entire process at one time.

• Print the Scholarship Descriptions
  
  
• Print the Statements of Recommendation
  
  
• Know your current cumulative high school or VWCC grade point average, and the number of VWCC credits you have earned, if applicable
  
  
• Have a copy of your signed tax return, and/or your parents' signed tax
  return
  
  
• Prepare a 250-word essay that addresses ONE of the following topics. Consult the Scholarship Essay Writing Tips for assistance in completing your essay. If you have received a Foundation scholarship in previous years, you must address a different topic on your 2010-11 application.
  
  

  1. What is a societal problem you believe needs to be addressed? Explain why and how.
  

  2. Discuss a special attribute or accomplishment that makes you unique.
  

  3. Who in your life has been your biggest influence and why?
  

  4. Where do you see yourself 10 years from now?
  

  5. Choose a book or books that have affected you deeply and explain why.

• Please review the online application in its entirety before completing.
  
  

AFTER SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION

• Required supplemental materials, such as transcripts, recommendations, copy of your signed tax return, and materials required for specific scholarships must be received in the Foundation office by 4:00 p.m., May 21, 2010.
  
  Applications will not be considered if supplemental materials are not received by the deadline.
  
  
• After clicking the Submit Application button, it is imperative that you print a copy of your application to keep as a backup should the Foundation not receive your completed online application. There is a link on the "thank you" page that leads you to a way to print the application. The Foundation is not responsible for errors in receiving your application.
