Virginia Western Community College will hold its Commencement ceremony on Friday, May 15, at the Berglund Center.
The ceremony, which will honor graduates from the fall 2025 and spring and summer 2026 semesters, starts at 6:30 p.m. There are 418 students expected to attend, with 546 degrees and certificates being awarded.
Dr. Laura Treanor will preside over her first Commencement ceremony as President of Virginia Western. Dr. Treanor is the fifth person to hold the office of President in the College’s 60-year history.
Three Virginia Western students were selected to participate as speakers in Commencement events:
- Maureen Arthur will serve as Rehearsal Speaker. She is graduating with an Associate of Science degree in Business Administration.
- Hagar Atef Youssef will deliver the Welcome. She is graduating with an Associate of Science degree in Science.
- Demetrice Peerman-Forrest has the role of Keynote Speaker. She is graduating with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Human Services.
