Employee Giving: Great Expectations for Our Students and An Evening With Beth Macy

Every student deserves a bright future, but for young people who have experienced foster care, the odds are stacked against them. That’s why Virginia Western’s Great Expectations program is so important. It provides one-on-one coaching, tutoring, and mentoring to help students not only enroll but succeed. Great Expectations students graduate at three times the national average for foster youth, thanks to support from caring employees like you.

This fall, we’re shining a spotlight on that work with An Evening with Beth Macy, the award-winning author of Dopesick and Factory Man, and a former Virginia Western instructor. Macy’s new book, Paper Girl, explores the struggles of her hometown through the lens of poverty, resilience, and the power of education. Just as a Pell Grant fueled Macy’s own college journey, your gifts today fuel the futures of our students, whether through scholarships, the Student Co-Op, or the Student Emergency Fund.

And to celebrate the impact of employee giving, the grand prize for this year’s campaign is two tickets to the Beth Macy event plus two signed copies of her new book, Paper Girl.

Make a gift of $10 or more and you’ll be entered into a weekly prize drawing AND the final grand prize drawing. Give today and get in on the excitement!
