Brown Library Needs You!

Brown Library needs 2 faculty members and 2 staff members to participate in a short activity and survey during the week of February 24. The activity and survey will take approximately 45 minutes to complete. Basic internet skills are required for participation, as each participant will be testing a new search engine on the library's website. Each participant who completes both the activity and the survey will receive a gift bag, including a Bubblecake gift certificate!

Transfer Fair!

Know someone who is thinking about transferring?

Invite them to come to Virginia Western's Transfer Fair, March 19, from 9:30am - 2:30pm in the Fralin Center (HP210).

Meet with admissions counselors from schools all across Virginia like, Virginia Tech, Radford University, Liberty University, Old Dominion, VCU, Roanoke College, Ferrum College, Jefferson College of Health Sciences, Hollins University, and many more!

Come learn about specific programs offered at four-year schools and have your questions about transferring answered by representatives from the schools you are interested in attending.

Important Online Webinar: Atomic Learning for Faculty and Staff

What is Atomic Learning?

It is an online training resource that is available 24/7 and open to ALL VWCC students, staff, and faculty. It delivers on-demand technology training on the use of computer applications, technology integration and professional development. Get answers to many of your "how do I do that?" questions about 200+ programs, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop, Blackboard®, APA Style, and workshops and technology integration projects on emerging topics such as plagiarism, critical thinking, and online courses.

  • Easy to access – access Atomic Learning through Blackboard
  • Easy to search using keywords, specific applications, versions, and/or platforms.
  • Easy to share - Faculty can share direct links in Blackboard to support necessary software or technical skills.

We have scheduled an online webinar about how to use Atomic Learning for faculty and staff on Thursday, Feb. 20 at 2pm. The webinar is about 30 minutes. We have reserved a conference room at Business Science Building M228. You are welcome to join us together to attend the webinar or you can access the webinar online from your office or home.

You Make the Difference Employee Recognition Event

Join in as the college collaboratively celebrates and recognizes your contributions that lead to the success of the college and the students that we serve!

 “You Make the Difference” Employee Recognition Event
Wednesday, February 26, 2014
Natural Science Center
2:00 – 4:00 p.m.

All employees are invited to stop by to socialize and praise their peers at this event.  Catered by A Cut Above Catering, an assortment of hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and beverages will be provided.

Following the ceremony there will be award drawings!  Awards are limited to employees that have received a “You Make the Difference” card issued by their peer(s) or supervisors from March 2013 through February 2014. Remember to bring your cards with you to the ceremony.  If you prefer, you may deliver the cards prior to the ceremony by placing them in a collection box located in Human Resources.

A supply of “You Make the Difference” are located in the Human Resources Office.
