Wireless Access for College Visitors

Recently changes were made the college’s wireless network. As a result of those changes, Virginia Western no longer offers free, open wireless. Visitors to Virginia Western will be able to access wireless service on campus using VWCCGuest using a password.

How do I obtain a password for my campus visitors?

When submitting the online calendar reservation, select “I would like to request resources for my event”. Select IET, Help Desk, Guest Password. Your password will be sent by email within two weeks of your scheduled event.

Blackboard Courses and Making Courses Available to Students

All courses that begin August 21-28 must be available for students to access on the  morning of August 21 by 8:00 am. This includes all campus and hybrid courses and not just distance learning. You may make the courses available before August 21. Even if your first course meeting date is later in the first week of the semester, the course must be available to the students on August 21. We will check the courses early the morning of August 21 to make sure the courses are available and provide a list of courses that are not available.

If you have questions about making your course available and having a syllabus loaded, please attend the New Technology Faculty Training held during in-service. The instructions are also available on the Distance Learning web site under Instructor Tutorials -> Blackboard.
