Virginia Western announces Chanlee Luu as the college winner of the Virginia Community College System “I Belong” Poet Laureate Competition.

Chanlee will represent Virginia Western at the state-wide competition on April 6 in Charlottesville, Virginia.  This event is open to the public, and you can register for free tickets here. 

Chanlee will also be reading at the Virginia Western commencement ceremony.

We are also excited to announce the additional prize winners of the poetry and visual art contest:
Poetry second place – Jennifer Sheppard
Poetry third place – Emma Turner

Virginia Western Visual Luminary for 2024 – Samuel Evans
Art second place – Amelia Smith
Art third place – Austin Dovel

Poetry Open Mic: all students (and employees) are invited to share poetry on Tuesday, April 16 at Noon in the Student Life Center coffee shop.
