Phishing E-mails May Be Harder To Recognize Soon!

We have all learned to look for red flags (poor grammar, spelling mistakes and more) to help us determine an email is a phishing attempt. ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot developed by OpenAI that has recently been in the news and may make it harder to find these red flags. It offers tools that can be manipulated to help bad actors clean up their phishing emails and make them harder to recognize.

It is as important as ever to keep a look out for emails that may be questionable. VWCC’s email system places a “CAUTION” message to warn when an email is originating from an external sender. Do not automatically trust an email and do not be afraid to question its validity.

Also, remember the Help Desk can be contacted to help you with determining if an email is legitimate.
