2023 You Make the Difference Annual Award Recipients

Robert Coleman, Print Technician, Print Services

Robert Coleman was nominated for his excellent customer service and for going above and beyond. “Robert is able to manage his time, so that often, print requests are fulfilled prior to the asking date. The print requests are nearly always completed accurately and ahead of schedule. Robert is able to maintain a high level of customer service and assist patrons in the office, while operating the machines and performing his job duties.  Robert is able to manage multiple print requests and is always pleasant, courteous, and efficient with his duties, while greeting patrons picking up their print request of answering any questions that we may have.

Johnny Johnson, Trades Technician, Facilities Management Services

Johnny Johnson was nominated for going the extra mile and his problem-solving abilities.  “He goes out of his way to help everyone while he has his own tremendous work load.” “He covers a lot of ground every day and is always striving to help keep things in good working order.  Johnny deserves recognition for always being willing to go the extra mile, especially when we’re short-staffed.” “Henry Johnny Johnson is an enormous asset to Virginia Western Community College.  His knowledge in numerous areas of maintenance and problem-solving abilities help Virginia Wester to operate at a high level on a daily basis.  His persistent attitude to getting things done is a great contribution to the FMS team and college.”

Renee Johnson, Enrollment Specialist, Enrollment Center and Advising

Renee Johnson was nominated for her positive attitude and excellent customer service.  “Renee is able to fulfill student requests in an efficient and professional manner.”  “She maintains a positive attitude while juggling many jobs.  In addition, to the fast-paced environment, she is able to make meaningful connections to the students so that they feel like they are not alone in their journey and that they have an advocate on their side. Renee is able to alleviate any anxiety a current or potential student may have, while providing excellent customer service throughout any process. Renee is always willing to help and assist and pick up any ball to help a staff member assist the student.  Renee is efficient in her response to her emails asking for assistance and always with a positive attitude.
