As a friendly reminder, NOVA’s Extended Learning Institute (ELI) welcomes and encourages you to join us for our next set of TOTAL workshops. We have four workshops scheduled to begin on February 10. We hope you will join us for one of these workshops!
Workshops beginning February 10th
- Facilitating Discussion Forums - 4 weeks
- Using Best Practices in Online Teaching - 4 weeks
- Writing Directions - 3 weeks
- Captioning Media - 2 weeks
The TOTAL professional development workshops are intended for faculty who teach (or want to teach) blended and online courses. Each workshop focuses on a single topic, so you can build an individualized professional development plan by selecting only the workshops you need. We suggest taking one workshop at a time; all workshops are offered multiple times during the year. See the TOTAL project website for workshop descriptions.
If you would like to post a Federal Work-Study (FWS) position for the Spring 2014 term, please submit personnel requisitions to Adam Bailey in the financial aid office as soon as possible. When adding a reservation to the college's online calendar, don't forget to select the resources needed to have your room ready.
If you've made room reservations and have not selected the resource for Campus Police to unlock your doors that means someone else is double checking for you. Please don't leave this to chance!
Please refer to these instructions which will help you make sure your needs are met. http://www.virginiawestern.edu/facstaff/docs/FacStaffCalendarInst.pdf
On page 12 you'll find instructions on using the Resources section of the calendar. Be sure to use this to make sure your room is unlocked by Campus Police, need support from the Media Geeks or require a guest wireless password.
Thank you and please contact Tara Nepper with any questions.

Just a reminder, The Greenfield Center in Daleville has been set-up as a test center for local students. “It is essential that the instructors provide a roster or list of students who may be taking exams at the Greenfield Center, and that they fully complete a testing information sheet. Instructors are responsible for providing this information for every exam.” The Greenfield Center is open for testing Monday – Friday between 8am – 4:30pm. It is the STUDENTS responsibility to request the instructor submit information to the Center. If you have any questions, please call us at 966-3984.
