Virginia Western Educational Foundation Innovation Grant applications will be available January 2, 2014 on VWConnect. Notices will also be sent out through the Daily Bulletin. Awards will be made on May 1, 2014. If awarded, the mid-term report for the Innovation Grant will be due on Sept. 17, 2014 and final report will be due April 1, 2015.

Who can apply? All members of the Virginia Western Community College faculty and staff may apply. Faculty must have been at the College for at least 2 yrs. of continuous service, September-June.
What is the typical amount of an Innovation Grant award? Awards range from $1,000.00 - $7,000.00
What is the length of the application? Applicant must provide a cover sheet with supervisor’s name, detailed description (should not exceed 3 pages), explanation of how success of the project will be measured, timetable, budget, additional information (i.e. brochures, videos, etc. that elucidate the application.)
How difficult is it to secure this grant? Awards are based on the quality and uniqueness of the projects submitted. Therefore, degree of difficulty in securing an Innovation Grant depends on the number of applicants with outstanding projects for consideration.Make sure your grant stands out!!

Supervisors and Support Staff,
In August of this year many of you participated in the electronic SARF parallel test. After a successful two week test session we went to work correcting the issues and adding some additional features. IET is pleased to announce that the electronic SARF is ready for production and will be deployed on January 2, 2014. If you submit SARFs you will be impacted by this deployment. What this means to you is when you return from the holiday break you will need to begin submitting electronic SARFs. Paper copy SARFs will no longer be used. On January 2, 2014 the electronic SARF will be located on the VWConnect homepage on the right-hand side under “Links.” There will also be a "How to" guide located on VWConnect that may help you if you were unable to attend one of the three Supervisor Roundtable training sessions back in August. Any paper copy SARFs submitted before the holiday break will be processed.
The Help Desk will be glad to answer any questions you may have about the deployment or eSARF. We appreciate your continued support as we move forward with the eSARF!
Student Activities will be taking a trip to Washington DC on December 19th!
Spend a day in our nation's capitol. Visit museums or monuments! Examples include the National Gallery of Art, National Museum of Natural History, or the Lincoln Memorial.
Trip includes free transportation on a charter bus. Participants must bring money for meals. Limited number of spots available. Sign up with Student Activities to reserve your spot. Faculty and staff are welcome to sign up.

Signups for the Spring Break trip (March 1-3) for the 3 day/2 night New York City trip have started. The trip is sponsored by the Armed Forces Club and Student Council.
Faculty and staff CAN go on this trip, in addition to students, and can bring a guest! We will be taking signups from now until January 14th. The price per person is $366/quad room and $400/double room. Single and Triple rooms are also available.
To sign up, take your first payment ($100) to the Cashier in Chapman Hall. Then bring or send your receipt and your paperwork to Natasha Lee, Thomas Center 208.

Attention ALL employees (Full and Part-Time, Faculty and Staff):
To make sure Payroll has your current mailing address for W2 purposes, please review and update your address no later than COB today, December 13th, 2013.
To Edit an address:
- Log-in to PeopleSoft.
- Click "Main Menu".
- Click "Self Service".
- Click "Personal Information Summary".
- Click "Change Home/Mailing Addresses" button.
- Then click the “Edit” button to the right of the address which needs to be updated.
- Fill out the form with your new mailing address information. You must list the same address in the HOME and MAILING address variables. Please ensure you are using proper USPS format and abbreviations. The Postal code MUST be in the nine-digit format. Use this link to find your code: http://zip4.usps.com.
- Residence/Juris Code should be the city or county location of the corresponding address.
- List effective date of address change next to “On this date”.
- Click “Save”.
- Click “Ok”.
- Click “Return to Personal Information” when verification of Address is complete.
Additionally, you must submit all address changes to the Human Resources Department. This can be done by emailing Heidi McClintic (email@example.com) from your VWCC Employee Email Account (or you can use your VCCS Student Email account if you do not have an Employee Email Account with our college) with the request.
You should also take a few minutes to update all of your personal information. The Job Aid in on VWConnect (has to be accessed while on campus or thru virtual network). Go to HUMAN RESOURCES > PEOPLESOFT HRMS > Select the appropriate Checklist based on your position status (full-time or part-time).
Your Blue Stars Basketball teams will play their last home games of the semester, Saturday, starting at 3:00 PM in the Humanities Gymnasium.
The double header we see the Women taking on NJCAA Div. II #13 ranked Guilford Tech CC at 3:00 PM, while the Men will take on GTCC at 5:00 PM.

General Schedule 111, College and University records, has been completely overhauled and is available along with other General Schedules for state agencies at http://www.lva.virginia.gov/agencies/records/sched_state/index.htm.
With this update, the number of active series was reduced from 139 to 81. While you adjust to the new schedule, we strongly suggest using our searchable database to help locate appropriate series. The search feature is available at http://www.lva.virginia.gov/agencies/records/sched_state/search.asp and works best when you search on a single word in the “series description” field.
RM3 forms once completed must be forwarded to Cheryl Miller (the college’s designated Records Manager) for approval. Once approval is granted an approved form will be returned to you in college mail and the records may be disposed of as indicated on the form. The preferred method for disposal at this time is through the CINTAS containers located throughout the college in each department.
