Appointments are Now Available – Biometric Screenings on Campus!

Except for temporary parking of delivery trucks no private parking is allowed along the parking lot perimeter curb or within lots circulation isles. These are fire lanes.

Preparation Activities: The week of August 5th, deliveries of classroom, conference room and public furniture are scheduled, moving continues and stair finishes may begin installation.

New VWCC Campus Sign

Work being conducted at the intersection of Colonial Avenue and McNeil Drive is to install a new Virginia Western campus sign. 8 months in the planning the new sign will reestablish VWCC's branding at this important campus intersection.  The new sign will reflect the institutions permanence in the community and has been designed to be both dignified and eye-catching.

New Parking Lot Behind Business Science

The activity behind the Business Science building is the construction of Lot 15. This new lot will run parallel to Colonial Avenue and will hold about 52 cars. The lot will be designated for faculty and staff 6 am to 5:30 pm. It will also be used for events at Whitman Auditorium. Features of the lot will include an underground storm water tank for sustainability, 3 dedication gardens, area LED lighting, plus handicap parking and access improvements to the area directly behind Business Science. A nicely landscaped hedge was planned with the Arboretum to protect the Arboretum viewshed and improve landscaping along Colonial Avenue. The project has been a year in the planning and should be completed in October.

Please turn off the projector!

As the Media Geeks have upgraded classrooms with the new touch screens, we've started noticing a serous problem:  Projectors are being left on!  Please remember that leaving a projector running when it is not needed is costing us a significant amount of money in replacement bulbs ($300 each) and electricity.

We are asking for your help.   When you turn off the computer, please ALSO touch the "Shutdown" button on the touch panel, and confirm that you want to shutdown by touching the word "Yes" when prompted.  This will turn off the projector. Simply turning off the computer results in a "black" screen, but this is not the same as the projector being off.

The Media Geeks are asking that you visually confirm that you have turned off the projector by looking at the projector and confirming that  the only colored light on the projector is amber.   If you see a green light next to the word "Lamp" on the projector, it is likely that the projector lamp is still on.

Thank you all for your help!
