Calendar Tip

Have you ever looked at the calendar on the front page of the website and wondered why you can't see your reservation? The College's online calendar shows up in two forms on the website.

The PUBLIC CALENDAR is seen from the front page of the website and pulls information that is open to students and the community. The Public Calendar is yellow. http://calendar.activedatax.com/virginiawestern/CalendarNOW.aspx?fromdate=7/1/2013&todate=7/31/2013&display=Month&more=1/1/0001

The PRIVATE CALENDAR can be accessed front the website by clicking Faculty & Staff > Faculty & Staff Calendar. The Private Calendar shows all Public Calendar reservations as well as those specific toward faculty and staff (meetings, interviews, etc). 2013 Annual Fall Picnic

Please join us for our Faculty and Staff Annual Fall Picnic on Monday, August 19th to celebrate the beginning of a new college year and the opening of the new Center for Science and Health Professions (CSHP).  We will enjoy a barbeque-style lunch buffet from noon to 2 p.m. in the plaza between the Business Science Building and the CSHP.  Tours of the CSHP will be available, come join the celebration.

Staff Senate Summer Meeting/Luncheon

The Staff Senate Summer Meeting/Luncheon will be held on Wednesday, July 17th at 11:30 a.m. in the Natural Science Center. Plan now to attend!

Grades for Summer 2013

Grades for the summer 2013 term are due by 9:30 a.m. on August 1. Grade rosters for the first five-week classes and dynamic classes that have already ended may have their final grades entered now. Please remember to save your grade roster(s) in the "Approved" status and to also follow the instructions for populating the Last Date of Attendance field: http://virginiawestern.edu/facstaff/docs/LastDateofAttendanceFieldSpring2013.pdf.  Additional information on entering grades is also available online at http://www.virginiawestern.edu/studenthelp/faculty/recordgrades.php.  If you need assistance or have any questions, pleaes contact Lorry Conklin or Sharlona Wimmer.

On Tuesday, July 16 from 11:30am - 1:00pm at Taubman Museum, Chef Ewald Notter will be demonstrating his amazing skills and conducting a meet and greet. He is an acclaimed master of modern day confectionery arts, popularly known as a celebrated competitor, eminent teacher and esteemed author. His masterpiece creations come from his artistic palette of sugar and chocolate. Chef Notter is widely respected as an innovator that helped mold the craft and advance the industry. He has worked and competed in over 15 countries, winning numerous awards including at least 15 gold medals, as well as National and World Pastry Team Champion, and Pastry Chef of the Year. As part of the 2001 U.S. National Team in Lyon, France, he scored the highest ever recorded number of points for sugar, 699 out of 700, helping the U.S. Team achieve its first Gold Medal.
Admission is free to the event.
