Tradesman License Renewal
The VA Board of Contractors requires journeymen, master plumbers, electricians, HVAC mechanics and gas fitters to take continuing education hours specific to their trade as part of the licensing process. Those renewing a license must take continuing education in their respective profession:
- Plumbers, HVAC technicians and electricians must take 3 hours of CE in their field.
- Gas fitters must take 1 hour: the 1-hour class for gas-fitters is intended for journeymen and master gas fitters, liquified petroleum and natural gas fitters.
Each course covers new definitions, code changes, general requirements, impact on the job, general use of and special equipment included in the respective codes.
You may register for any of the Online Tradesman Courses here.
Once there, you will fill out the student profile as a NEW student.
Then find the class under Courses > Certification and Licensure > Trades > Electrical Tradesmen License Renewal
Please note: Please note that once we receive notice that you signed up and paid for the class, we have to submit the information to a third party who will send you log-in information directly for access to the class. Please provide your License number once you have completed the class or before enrolling. We need this in order to send to DPOR. Your information will not be processed without the license number provided (per DPOR).
