Fitness Center

The Virginia Western Fitness Center is committed to providing the campus community with a resource for health and wellness. The Fitness Center is equipped with treadmills, elliptical trainers, recumbent and upright bikes, dumbbells, strength circuit stations, and more!

The Fitness Center is FREE for all currently enrolled students, faculty and staff. A current Virginia Western photo ID and completed Fitness Center Waiver Form (PDF) and Fitness Center Policies (PDF) are required for entry.

Get Fit Challenge

Give yourself the gift of HEALTH and sign-up for the Get Fit Challenge at the fitness center!

Complete these simple steps by March 2nd, 2015:

  1. Participate in 6 weekly weigh-ins
  2. Have1BodyAssessmentPerformed
  3. Attend 1 Fitness Center Orientation
  4. Complete 18 workouts
  5. Attend 2 Wellness Workshops
  6. Attend 6 Group Fitness Classes

Prizes will be given for most weight lost, most group fitness classes attended and most workouts completed! All participants that complete the Challenge will receive a FREE T-SHIRT AND WATER BOTTLE!

Group Fitness Classes

The Fitness Center offers a variety of FREE group fitness classes led by certified fitness instructors. Virtual video-led classes are also offered throughout the week. Class schedules are subject to change, so be sure to check the calendar!

Group Fitness Policies

Please note our group fitness policies:

  • Participants will not be admitted to the class 5 minutes after the warm-up has begun.
  • Appropriate workout attire is required at all times unless otherwise noted.
  • Participants are encouraged to monitor their own workout intensity and take water breaks frequently.
  • Participants are responsible for returning all equipment used during a class to the appropriate storage space.
  • Patrons are asked not to jump rope, lift weights, or stretch in the studios while fitness classes are in progress.
  • Personal items should be placed in lockers prior to participation. If there are no lockers available, personal items may be placed at the back of the studio, along the wall.
  • To ensure the safety of participants, class size may be limited.
  • The instructor reserves the right to ask a participant to leave should these policies not be followed.
Recognized groups on campus may reserve the Studio for fitness related activities when Fitness Center programs are not using the space. Please contact the Fitness Center Manager at for reservation requests.

Tours & Equipment Orientations

Want to learn more about the Fitness Center and all it has to offer? Come in for a tour or equipment orientation!

Tours: A Fitness Center staff member will walk through the facility and go over different areas, programs, equipment and policies. Group tours are limited to 15 people during open hours.

Equipment Orientations: A Fitness Center staff member will help you learn how to properly operate our Technogym fitness equipment. We can also design training program that meets your workout needs!
