Libraries are Good at Sharing

Library Tip of the Day

If we don’t have the item you need, we can request it for you from another library that owns it.

Our Interlibrary Loan service allows you to obtain books, articles, and other materials that are not available in Brown Library.  Student requests are honored for materials needed to fulfill the reading and research requirements of the College’s course offerings.  Faculty and staff requests are honored for materials used for work-related inquiry or to support the mission of the college.

National Library Week Events:

  • Reading Flash Mob: Bring a book, comics, magazines, graphic novel and READ. Front steps of library, 11:15am on the dot, Friday, April 19th.
  • Word of the Week: Stop by the library to find out our mystery word. Create your own fun definition and enter to win a B&N gift card! (One student winner, one faculty/staff winner.)
  • Library Find-a-Word
  • Snapshot VA
  • Library Survey: Turn in a completed survey and enter for a chance to win $25!

We’ll also have a table at Spring Fling on Friday, April 19th—see you there!

Walk To End Alzheimer’s

The Central and Western Virginia Chapter is hosting a walk in Roanoke on September 28, 2013 at Elmwood Park.

If anyone is interested in becoming a team captain please pick up information in the Volunteer Center, Thomas Center room 210.

Early Childhood Book Drive Club Winner

The Campus Body of Christ Club won the book drive club competition with a donation of 86 children’s books! 

On behalf of the Early Childhood Education Department and the Volunteer Center, THANK YOU!

All books will be donated to TAP Head Start.

The Virginia Western Educational Foundation has over $150,000 in scholarship funds available—based on academic excellence, financial need and specific programs—to help you reach your educational goals.  You don’t have to qualify for financial aid to receive Educational Foundation scholarships.
 
Deadline: 4:00 p.m., May 17, 2013
 
Requirements: Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0, high school graduate or have a GED, and be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits at Virginia Western in Fall 2012.
