Do you need volunteer hours?

Green Valley Elementary School is looking for volunteers to help with face painting and other activities at their annual carnival.

When: April 20th, 10-2

The OPPSS Program will sponsor a session about Pregnancy and being a New Parent.
Guest presenter: Carilion Baby Basics Program Coordinator Tara West
Tara will lead a discussion on Free services sponsored by Carilion Clinic for Pregnant Women and New Parents
Tuesday April 2nd, 2-3pm in the Natural Science Center
All Students who are Parents or Pregnant are invited. Come and become a part of the VWCC Student Parents Community and receive valuable information from Carilion Clinic.

Book Drive/Early Childhood Literacy Awareness Days

The Virginia Western Volunteer Center and the Early Childhood Education Department is holding a children's book drive/Awareness Day to serve literacy needs in our community.

Please bring new or gently used books for Pre-K through 5th grade students! 

When: Wednesday, April 3, 11-2 & Thursday, April 4, 2-5

Where: Craig Hall, outside the Campus Bookstore

The Campus Bookstore will be offering a new book, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, at a reduced price.  This is one of Virginia's pre-selected children's books for Week of the Young Child.

All books will be donated to TAP Head Start.

Virginia State Police Bomb Squad Demonstration on Campus

The Virginia State Police Sixth Division Bomb Squad will be on campus today at 5 p.m. to provide demonstrations for the college’s Administration of Justice program and student Justice Club. This event is open to the public. No live munitions will be used.

  • The VSP Robot demonstration
  • Bomb Suit demonstrations
  • Bomb Technician demonstrations
