  • ROANOKE VALLEY WOMEN'S SOCCER LEAGUE - Need women 18 + years old, especially over 35, to join the new recreational division this spring. Desperately seeking "play for fun" women. The cost is $50 for 10+ games. The games are Sundays in the afternoon at Botetourt Sports Complex (usually) from March 24 to June 2.No experience necessary -- we will fumble the ball together. This sport is a bun burner; we play 80-minute games with breaks at 20 minutes. The club (recreational) division has 2 teams and each team needs more players. We get to choose a team color and name so come be soccer divas with me! I'm 62 years old and really want women somewhat close to my age with which to play. A Semester of Service

The Virginia Western Volunteer Center would like to thank all of the student volunteers who attended the service events during the first half of the semester! 

On January 30th, 6 students volunteered at the South Roanoke Nursing Home.

On February 12, 6 students volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club of Southwest Virginia.

On February 27, 4 students volunteered at the South Roanoke Nursing Home.

Volunteer Opportunity!

"One in Six People in Southwest Virginia struggles to have adequate access to food."  More than 60,000 lbs of food is rescued every month thanks to the volunteers at Feeding America Southwest Virginia.  Volunteers rescue food by sorting dented cans, crushed boxes, or other superficially damaged food to ensure the food inside is safe and consumable.

Summer 2013 Important Financial Aid Information

Are you planning on attending Virginia Western during the summer 2013 semester and need to determine if financial aid is available?

If so, complete the 2013 Summer Semester Financial Aid Form  and submit it to the Financial Aid Office by email (finaid@virginiawestern.edu), fax (540-857-6208), in person, or by mail (VWCC Financial Aid, P.O. Box 14007, Roanoke VA 24038) . Financial aid for summer semester is very limited.  At the time that you are submitting this form you must:

  • Have a completed a 2012-2013 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) that includes the VWCC school code – 003760, and have submitted all requested documentation. NOTE: If you attended another school during the fall 2012 and/or spring 2013 semesters, and did not have the VWCC school code on your FAFSA, then you must add the VWCC school code to your FAFSA so that we may determine your eligibility. 
  • Be enrolled and attempting courses in an eligible program. 
  • Not have earned a Bachelor degree by 7/1/2012 to be considered for grants. NOTE: Students with a prior Bachelor degree are eligible to apply for loans.
