Dear Virginia Western community,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While our college remains closed on Spring Break, the\nCOVID-19 pandemic has already had a dramatic impact on the ways in which we\nconduct business. Virginia Western is a community leader and as such, has been\nhome to many large events for our students and for the public. As previously\nannounced, due to guidance from the CDC and the Virginia Department of Health,\nwe already cancelled all events through at least April 5. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
With new national guidance related to minimizing group\ngatherings to lessen the potential spread of the virus, Chancellor Glenn DuBois announced the cancellation of May college\ncommencements across Virginia’s Community Colleges<\/strong>. That includes special\npinning ceremonies as well. This is a difficult step to take, but a necessary one\nfor us to help flatten the curve of this outbreak. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Our commencement ceremony is the culmination of our academic\nyear and gives us a chance to celebrate all the hard work and dedication our\nstudents have exhibited to reach their goals. With the evolving nature of this\npublic health crisis, we have not yet determined the best way to reschedule our\nceremony. We are, however, committed to honoring the Class of 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are tremendously proud of our students\nand all they have accomplished at Virginia Western.
