Model Airplanes - Bridge Building - Electronic Gadgets (rising grades 4-7)
M-F 6/15-6/19, 9:00AM-12:00PM, cost before 5/30/15: $160
Build your own rubber-powered model airplane. Use your model as a learning tool in aerospace education, or just have fun building a sound airplane that actually flies when assembled. Have fun designing and building model bridges. Join us in our bridge building contest to see which one can hold the most weight. Learn simple engineering skills. Build 6 electronic projects. Some of them include a patrol car siren, burglar alarm and morse code transmitter. You will learn how the different electronic components work.

Horticulture — Reap What You Sow (rising grades 4-7)
M-F 6/15-6/19, 9:00AM-12:00PM, cost before 5/30/15: $95
Students will learn the vegetable gardening process from start to finish. Seed sowing, crop scheduling, soil preparation, transplanting, fertilization, watering, plant care, insect and disease control, harvesting and food storage, garden clean up, composting, building a compost bin, dormant garden, deer and rodent protection, harvesting and storing seeds, and sustainable vegetable gardening. Students should also learn about helping and serving others from a standpoint of gardening and sharing of the harvest.

Digital Photography (rising grades 4-9)
M-F 6/15-6/19, 9:00AM-12:00PM, cost before 5/30/15: $95
The basic rules of composition and lighting will be explored as all great photographers should know. We will study about well-known photographers such as Ansel Adams and Steve McCurry. You will learn to use your digital camera's or smartphone's different settings and applications to create lasting images. After image is saved we will use photo editing software or multi-media to enhance or distort the images to make a finished art show worthy piece of artwork. Please bring your own digital camera or smartphone fully charged with your devices USB cord with a 4 GB memory card.

Geographers - Exploring Your World! Locally and Globally (rising grades 4-7)

Geography is used in our lives every day through apps for finding directions; weather forecasts and much more... How would you like to explore your world both locally and globally? What could you do with maps to help you solve a problem? How can seeing information on a map help you or businesses make better choices? Have you ever wanted to go on a modern treasure hunt? This class will 'open your eyes' to new ways to see the world and interpret the world around you. Tools utilized will include Google Earth, ArcView GIS, and GPS units.

Fast and Furious Keyboarding (rising grades 4-6)
M-F 6/22-6/26, 9:00AM-12:00PM, cost before 5/30/15: $135
How fast can you go without looking at your hands!
Fast and furious keyboarding classes teach beginning keyboarders how to move from hunt and peck to coordinated touch typing. This class is for children who want to get the best performance from a keyboard. The goal in teaching keyboarding is to develop proper techniques without concern for typing speed. Typing speed will evolve from practicing good technique.

The Human Body Shop (rising grades 7-10)
M-Th 6/22-6/25, 9:00AM-3:00PM, cost before 5/30/15: $135
What makes the human body so unique. What makes your heart beat and your blood flow! Why is good nutrition and exercise so important to your daily life? Students will learn about CPR certification; how to assess vital signs; how x-rays are produced; and learn the importance of good nutrition and exercise.

Girls In Construction (Girls, rising grades 7-12)
W-F 7/8-7/10, 9:00AM-3:30PM, cost: $75
Exploring new opportunities for women in construction, participants will enjoy hands-on projects and explore blueprint design & solid modeling using Autodesk Inventor and the 3D Printer. Projects will include electricity, welding and carpentry. Electronic Lab Workshop (rising grades 4-7)
M-F 7/13-7/17, 9:00AM-12:00PM, cost before 5/30/15: $160
30 different projects and experiments are built with your own electronic kit to keep in this hands-on workshop. The Science Electronics Lab will stimulate kids’ minds by using easy to understand experiments to increase their knowledge of electronics. Science project ideas will come alive as they build the 30 projects while working with Electronic Circuits. The electronics kit is reusable. Have fun designing your own projects once you’ve built all 30. Children can proceed at their own pace. Each participant will keep: an 80 page manual, 1 solderless circuit board, 12 resistors, 2 capacitors, 2 light-emitting diodes, 2 transistors, 1 battery snap, 1 diode, 1 speaker, 1 timer, 1 photocell, 1 rectifier, 1 potentiometer, and 1 switch. Learn the ins and outs of how they work.

Robotics (rising grades 6-9)
M-F 7/20-7/24, 9:00AM-3:00PM, cost before 5/30/15: $150
This camp will be an exciting introduction to Science, Engineering and Technology through the design of an autonomous robot. Students attending the Robotics camp will receive hands-on experience with computer programming, industrial robotics and computer animation. Current applications of the technology is presented using state-of-the-art equipment and material. The faculty will involve students in discussion and activities that will expand their knowledge and understanding of engineering and advanced technology while encouraging future interest in these fields. The camp will promote an atmosphere of fun as well as the importance of good study habits and learning discipline that lead to both educational and career pathways.
*Earns Boy Scout merit badge.

BLACK ROCKET CAMPS
The magic in every camper comes to life as never before when they are empowered to be as creative as they were all born to be! Black Rocket has over a decade of experience designing camps in the S.T.E.M. and Digital Arts fields. Every program is powered by the camper’s innate imagination and designed to bring their ideas to life in a fun, hands-on, learning environment. From concept to creation students will demonstrate their masterpiece to the world at the end of each week! All Black Rocket programs mirror real life experiences and the collaborative nature of the design process.

App Attack! Make Your First Game App (rising grades 4-7)
M-F 6/22-6/26, 9:00AM-12:00PM, cost before 5/30/15: $160
Take the first steps into the world of mobile app design and customize your own game app! Using a specialized game development tool, students will explore the world of phone-based and tablet applications. In addition to learning the basics of mobile app design and game development, you will also see firsthand how the world of App’s publishing functions. Student created apps will be accessible on a private site and can be played on any mobile device or computer (details will be provided by Black Rocket for students to share with parents). Parents may choose to publish apps if certain criteria are met and final decisions are the sole discretion of Apple or Google. No prior experience is necessary and students do not need to own a smart phone or tablet to take the class.

New! G2 Girl Gamer Club (rising grades 4-9)
M-F 7/6-7/10, 9:00AM-12:00PM, cost before 5/30/15: $160
Hang out with friends, have fun, and learn key S.T.E.M. skills in this one of a kind class! Candy Crush, Facebook, and Instagram were all built by people who understand the foundations of design and technology. In this class learn the basic elements of 2-D Game Design. Each day will have a tech challenge and a profile of the female stars of the tech world. Student games will be available on a Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Games are only compatible on PC computers, Mac versions can be created after the program for $15.00 conversion fee paid to Black Rocket (details will be provided by Black Rocket for students to share with parents).

Minecraft Designers (rising grades 4-7)
M-F 7/13-7/17, 9:00AM-12:00PM, cost before 5/30/15: $160
If you love the game Minecraft, but always wanted to design your own characters and buildings for your games this class is for you! Learn the basics of creating 3-D models using a new software to design your very own objects, create skins for characters, and import them into your favorite Minecraft games. To access their project at home students must own a PC/MAC version of Minecraft. Tablet, phone, and game console version of Minecraft are not compatible. Parent email address is required to use 3D modeling software.

Code Breakers (rising grades 7-9)
M-F 7/20-7/24, 9:00AM-12:00PM, cost before 5/30/15: $160
Calling all future coders, programmers, & designers! Learn the basics of coding languages like HTML, JavaScript, and CSS through a series of web projects and design challenges each day and be on your way to becoming the next tech star! Whether you want to be the next Mark Zuckerberg or the high school student who just made $1 million dollars for programming in his bedroom, this course has the essentials you need to begin your journey. Projects will be available on a Black Rocket website to share with friends and family (details will be provided by Black Rocket for students to share with parents).

Use your favorite game to learn the basics of modding and foundations of programming. Learn scripting and logic statements as you create your first mod! Introductory coding will also be taught through a simulated environment inspired by Minecraft. Student projects will be available on a Black Rocket website to share with friends and family (details will be provided by Black Rocket for students to share with parents). To access their project at home students must own a PC/MAC version of Minecraft. Tablet, phone, and game console version of Minecraft are not compatible.

New! LEGO YOUniverse: Make Your Own Adventure! (rising grades 4-9)
M-F 8/3-8/7, 9:00AM-12:00PM, cost before 5/30/15: $160
In this LEGO adventure YOU are the star! Pick your favorite LEGO genre or create an alternate universe to create a digital illustrated story. Whether you want to fight alongside Batman, be part of a Ninjago clan, hang with Ninja Turtles, or go into space with Bionicle the only requirement is that you put yourself in the story! All students will end the class with a digital comic book that can be shared with friends and family on a password protected website!
