In addition to email, Microsoft Office 365\/Outlook offers calendaring, personal contacts, a global address book, shared calendaring, and tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/outlook.com\/owa\/VirginiaWestern.mail.onmicrosoft.com\">Microsoft Office 365 webmail<\/a>, you can use a web browser to access your mailbox from any computer with an Internet connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your username and password for your email is the same as your VWCC network username (vwlastf) and password. Cybercriminals often use convincing emails, login prompts, and file-sharing requests, often emphasizing urgency to trick users into giving away access. Taking a moment to pause and review unexpected messages can help protect your account and college systems. Below are some simple precautions to follow to ensure you are not a victim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Only approve sign-ins you initiated.<\/strong>\u00a0Never enter a code on a Microsoft sign-in page or approve a login request just because an email, text, or message tells you to. Only do this if you initiated the sign-in yourself on your own device.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Remember:\u00a0<\/strong>IET Help Desk will never send you emails asking to verify your account!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Slow down and read prompts carefully.<\/strong>\u00a0Phishing attempts often rely on urgency and distraction. Taking a few extra seconds to review a login request or approval prompt can prevent costly mistakes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Be cautious with unexpected messages and invitations.<\/strong>\u00a0Treat unplanned document shares, Teams invitations, password reset notices, and login requests with caution&#8211;even if they appear to come from a trusted Microsoft service.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Review your account activity regularly.<\/strong>\u00a0Check the devices connected to your Microsoft account and watch for unfamiliar sign-ins. If something does not look right, remove the device, change your password, and review your account security settings right away.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Barracuda Archive Tools<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.virginiawestern.edu\/iet-services\/services\/faculty-staff-email\/barracuda\/\">Searching for Emails Using Barracuda Archive Tools<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Spam Protection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>IET monitors and attempts to manage the amount of spam or junk email received by our users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is also an individual filter that works based on your preferences. Emails are quarantined (or held in a queue) if they are suspected to be spam.
