{"id":11540,"date":"2023-06-09T15:17:42","date_gmt":"2023-06-09T19:17:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/virginiawestern.staging.tempurl.host\/iet-services\/?page_id=11540&#038;preview_id=11540"},"modified":"2026-09-02T11:02:32","modified_gmt":"2026-09-02T15:02:32","slug":"backups","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.virginiawestern.edu\/iet-services\/services\/storage-and-data\/backups\/","title":{"rendered":"Laptop\/Desktop Backups"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Laptops<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Users of laptops are responsible for backing up their data.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Options for this are copying to One Drive or to On Premise network storage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Desktops Local C Drive<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The local C drive on desktops is not backed up directly, however it is backed up.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Data is redirected from the default C drive locations of My Documents, Pictures, Music and Downloads to the I drive by redirecting the desktop PC to save in these locations. These folders are all backed up with the enterprise backup system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">On Premise Storage<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Network storage backups are performed daily.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Restoration of files is guaranteed after one backup cycle occurs at the end of the business day.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On premise data is available for restoration for a maximum of 147 days.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If files are deleted and need to be restored, a request should be submitted via <a href=\"https:\/\/help.vccs.edu\/TDClient\/3236\/VWCC\/Home\/\">Team Dynamix<\/a> to perform a restore operation.
