Additional Tools (HRMS, AIS, eVA)

Following are some additional tools available through MyVWCC. Availability of some of these tools is dependent on your job function.

Human Resources Management System (HRMS)

HRMS is the system used to input your timesheet and absence information (if applicable). HRMS uses the same database and menu structure as SIS. You can access the HRMS functions through either system.

Administrative Information System (AIS)

You will only have access to AIS if your job requires it. AIS uses the same database and menu structure as SIS. The best way to learn how to use AIS is through on-the-job training with a co-worker.

Commonewealth of Virginia Electronic Procurement System (eVA)

eVA is used if there are procurement duties in your job. eVA is not part of MyVWCC, however, if you use AIS for procurement, you’ll also need access to eVA.

Canvas

Canvas is a course management system that is maintained by the Virginia Community College System. It allows instructors to facilitate both online and in-person classes.

Canvas is web-based, so there is nothing for you to install or download. All you need is an Internet connection. Canvas is accessible from all browsers and mobile devices.

Panopto

Panopto is the lecture capture system of choice for Virginia Western Community College. The Panopto interface is streamlined to be simple to use in the classroom. With just a few clicks, you can be recording the audio and video of your classroom instruction, or creating videos to supplement your instruction.

Panopto allows you to:

  • Create your course material from anywhere. The Panopto Focus client can be downloaded and used from any compatible Mac, PC, or iOS device connected to the internet.
  • Record multimedia course introductions, section reviews, lab demonstrations, and more — all from your laptop or iOS device.
  • Capture your screen, audio, and video support for webcams and other devices.
  • Supplement your recordings with PDF attachments and synchronized PowerPoint slides.

Panopto is integrated with Canvas to limit recording viewing to just students registered to your class.

To access Panopto in the classroom, click the Panopto link on the desktop, or use your browser and navigate to http://vwcc.hosted.panopto.com.

If you have Panopto folders you cannot view using your MyVWCC Panopto account, contact the Help Desk for assistance.

MyVWCC Help

MyVWCC is your central source for accessing essential student and faculty information at your convenience.

Students can: search and register for classes, drop classes, review financial aid awards, make tuition payments, manage your personal information, and more!

Faculty can: access class rosters, view teaching schedules, enter grades, manage personal information, and more!

The following instructions for Registering for Classes, Academic Information, Student Financial Account, Advising, and Personal Information assume that you have already accessed the Student Information System (SIS). To access SIS, log in to MyVWCC and click the Student Information System button:

Finished? When you are finished using MyVWCC or any of the tools, you should always log out.

Student (VCCS) Email & Google Apps

The Virginia Community College System email system is hosted by Google Apps, and everyone (students, faculty, and staff) with a MyVWCC username is assigned a Gmail account. The Google email system provides you with a very reliable and secure way to send and receive email. Emails are delivered through a web browser and email addresses will not change.

Faculty & Staff: This is not your official Virginia Western email address. If you do not want to check multiple email addresses, you should forward your Gmail to your Outlook email account.

Google Apps

In addition to Gmail, you also have access to other Google Apps. Check out the main features you have available to use below; be sure to click on the options to see video demos and Google Help Center information.

Google Calendar

Multiple calendars are available for you to use, including a simple online calendar, shared calendars,  and subscriptions to public calendars. Mobile access is included.

Google Docs, Sheets & Slides

Create word processing documents, spreadsheets or presentations. Export them to your favorite desktop and mobile programs. Share them with your groups and make real-time changes together.

Google Drive

Store and access files anywhere — on the Web, on your hard drive or on your mobile device. Share files easily with others.

Google Sites

Participate in team website creation where you can embed videos, images and gadgets.
