Standard Software

The standard software for all VWCC computers is the Microsoft Office suite of software comprised of Word for word processing, Excel for spreadsheets, PowerPoint for slide presentations, Access for databases, and Outlook for email. For people that have not used Microsoft Office before or who need a refresher, the following links can be used to get on-line training from Microsoft.

Equipment Available for Checkout

The Help Desk has a limited number of laptops that are available for checkout to faculty and staff. We recommend contacting the Help Desk several days ahead of time to ensure that a laptop will be available.

If other equipment is needed, please contact the Help Desk so we can see if we have anything available for your needs.

How to Clear a Printer Jam

First, observe the message on the printer display — this often indicates the area of the jam.

Following are places to check after observing the message. If the message does not indicate the area of the jam, check each area until it is located.

  • Check the top of the printer by lifting the top cover accessible from the front of the printer. Look inside with the lid open to see if paper is partially pulled up into the printer. If so, gently pull it out.
  • The print cartridge may be lifted out carefully. If paper is lodged in the paper path, gently remove it.
  • Each tray may be removed. Ensure that paper is seated in the tray. Look inside after removing the tray to see if paper is partially pulled up into the printer. If so, gently pull it out.
  • Jams may occur in the duplexer unit in the rear of the printer. This can be removed easily.

If these areas have been checked and there is still a problem, contact the Help Desk at 7-7354 and report the problem.

Adobe Products

For Work Use

VWCC has negotiated an Enterprise Licensing Agreement (ETLA) with Adobe which permits us to install Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Acrobat Professional on computers on campus, in the same way we install Microsoft Office products under the Microsoft Campus License.  Unlike in the previous license agreement, however, licenses are now tied to your VWCC email credentials, similar to Microsoft Office 365, and will be deployed through the Software Center shortcut on college computer desktops.  Since Adobe Creative Cloud includes a large number of individual products which take up a lot of space on the computer, you are advised to contact the Help Desk for assistance regarding the specific components of Creative Cloud suite that you need for your classes or for your office computer.

If you require only Adobe Acrobat Professional, you do not need to do anything as it should be installed by default.

For Home Use

The Adobe ETLA license referred to above has been renewed for another three year term starting September 2020.  As per the new terms negotiated with Adobe, free access to annual subscription licenses for Adobe Creative Cloud software is no longer available for home use to VWCC Faculty/Staff.

Note: The terms of the Adobe ETLA restrict Creative Cloud subscriptions to Faculty/Staff so it is not available to students.
