Work Schedule Range
Friday: Lab open from 10-6, will work with school schedule
Saturday: Outreach Activities on occasion
Sunday: Outreach Activities on occasion
Monday: Lab open from 10-6, will work with school schedule
Tuesday: Lab open from 10-6, will work with school schedule
Wednesday: Lab open from 10-6, will work with school schedule
Thursday: Lab open from 10-6, will work with school schedule
Physical Location: STEM Building, Room ST113, on the campus of Virginia Western Community College (VWCC), 3094 Colonial Ave SW, Roanoke, VA.
Description
VWCC provides Fab Lab Techs to ensure that students can access the equipment in the Fab Lab in a safe, supervised environment. Student workers will be required to help facilitate creativity for all that enter the lab. Student workers will be required to learn how to use most, if not all, equipment in the lab and to help others in doing the same. Student workers will be required to follow safety procedures set in place for every machine and enforce them accordingly. Additional requirements will include keeping the lab clean, organized and the occasional maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment when needed. Student workers will be asked to participate and help with outreach events, some may fall on weekends.
General Qualifications: Must be enrolled in a Mechatronics or Engineering program and be able to provide precise and timely information to students using the Fab Lab. Must enjoy learning new things and be enthusiastic about sharing that knowledge with others.
Performance Evaluations will be conducted shortly before the end of the job assignment.
