Scholarships Available for Spring 2014

EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS – Scholarships are available for financial need, specific programs and academic excellence. These funds are available to help students with the cost of tuition. A student does not need to apply for financial aid to receive an Educational Foundation scholarship.

For more information, please direct your students to www.virginiawestern.edu/foundation/scholarship. The deadline to apply is Friday, October 25, 2013 at 4 p.m.

Welcome SACSCOC!

Please welcome the SACSCOC visiting team. They will be on campus Tuesday and Wednesday. Virginia Western has worked hard to demonstrate our compliance with SACSCOC guidelines and to develop an outstanding QEP on advising, that will make a positive difference in our campus. Everyone has contributed in some way to prepare for this visit. Thank you for all that you have done to make the visit a success!

As we still have prizes to award, and want to give you every opportunity to participate in the campaign, the deadline has been extended until Friday, October 11This is your chance to participate in a campaign that truly makes a difference in the lives of the students you teach and serve everyday. Donations fund the Employee Annual Giving Scholarship, Employee Family Scholarship, Student Emergency Fund, Student Book Fund, CCAP or any other initiative of the employee’s choosing. The goal is 100% employee participation, and no gift is too small!

Remember, once you donate to the We Are Western '13 Employee Giving Campaign, you are entered into all the prize drawings for the remainder of the campaign.

Washington D.C. National Mall

Spend a day in our nation's capitol.  Visit museums or monuments!  Examples include the National Gallery of Art, National Museum of Natural History, or the Lincoln Memorial.

Trip includes transportation on a charter bus.  Participants must bring money for meals.  Limited number of spots available.  Sign up with Student Activities to reserve your spot.

$10 deposit required at time of sign up.  Deposit refunded day of event.

Revision 2015

 After a year-long planning process, which included participation from students, faculty and adjunct faculty,  classified staff and administration, the new strategic plan, Revision 2015, was ratified by the Steering Team and Local Board on September 18, 2013. Revision 2015 will focus on strategic initiatives from 2014-2015.  On behalf of the Steering Team, we sincerely thank the campus community for making the year-long planning process a success.

SAILS (Student Assistance & Intervention for Learning Success)

On Monday, September 30th, faculty and staff will see a SAILS icon appear in their My VWCC accounts.  Unless you are a faculty member teaching developmental education courses, you can disregard this icon at this time.

If you are teaching a developmental education course this semester, you will receive information and training regarding the use of this system in the coming weeks.
