Please Turn Off The Projector When You Leave Class!

As the Media Geeks have upgraded classrooms with the new touch screens, we've started noticing a serous problem:  Projectors are being left on!  Please remember that leaving a projector running when it is not needed is costing us a significant amount of money in replacement bulbs ($300 each) and electricity.

We are asking for your help.   When you turn off the computer, please ALSO touch the "Shutdown" button on the touch panel, and confirm that you want to shutdown by touching the word "Yes" when prompted.  This will turn off the projector. Simply turning off the computer results in a "black" screen, but this is not the same as the projector being off.

The Media Geeks are asking that you visually confirm that you have turned off the projector by looking at the projector and confirming that  the only colored light on the projector is amber.   If you see a green light next to the word "Lamp" on the projector, it is likely that the projector lamp is still on.

Thank you all for your help!

If your club has been collecting books please count them and drop them off in the Volunteer Center, Thomas Center room 210, by Friday, April 12th.

Virginia Employee Public Service Week Celebration!

Every May, state agencies across Virginia will celebrate the hard work and dedication state employees provide to the Commonwealth of Virginia through a recognition event in honor of Virginia Employee Public Service Week.

Due to the operational challenges that Virginia Western faces during the traditional recognition period, the college will be celebrating Virginia Employee Public Service Week on Wednesday, April 17, 2013:

Three (3) employees will be awarded a recognition gift based on the recognition action (brick) completed by your peer.

Thank you for making a difference!

A special thank you is extended to Carlton Mabe and Tara Nepper for their contributions to this event, and also to the dedicated members of the Employee Recognition Committee!
