Wireless Network Changes

Information and Educational Technologies (IET) provides VWCC with a robust wireless network that supports access for college owned and personally owned devices.

VWCCWiFi which is the name of the new wireless network for all VWCC faculty, staff and students, will allow IET to identify who is on our wireless network and will allow us to monitor activity.

VWCCWiFi is available for all VWCC students, faculty and staff. You will automatically be redirected to the setup instructions the next time you connect on campus if you are still using VWWiFi. The instructions on how to connect to VWCCWiFi can also be found at www.virginiawestern.edu/wireless .

As of March 25, VWCC will no longer have free, open wireless (VWWiFi). Unfortunately in today’s world, people often abuse the use of wireless access and IET must be able to provide outside agencies with information when questionable activity is being conducting on our wireless network.

Visitors to VWCC will be able to request access to our guest wireless network VWCCGuest while scheduling the event on the campus calendar or by having a “sponsor” contact the Help Desk. What is a “sponsor?” A “sponsor” is a faculty or staff member that is responsible for the guest while on our campus and has the name and contact information for that person(s) and/or group.

Please contact the Help Desk (7-7354) if you have any questions
