The nursing faculty would like to welcome you to Virginia Western Community College’s A.A.S. Nursing Program! Each of you should be very proud of being accepted into the program and of the choice you have made to enter the nursing profession. The nursing faculty and staff are here to help you attain your goal of successfully completing the program. Upon graduation you will be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
The course work for this program is difficult and demanding but lays the foundation you need to develop into a competent, professional nurse. To be successful will require a level of dedication, responsibility, accountability, and sacrifice that you have not been faced with before. The nursing faculty and staff work to maintain a safe and positive learning environment and need the help of students to do so. The student’s role is assuming responsibility for your behavior and upholding the policies and standards in the nursing program handbook, the VWCC student handbook, and the VWCC general catalog.
Ultimately, completing this educational challenge is up to each of you. You have many resources available to assist you in your journey to becoming a registered nurse so please be willing to ask for help when you need it so we can help you reach your goals!
Again, we welcome you and look forward to guiding you in any way we can!
