VWCC Quick Connect

Connecting companies and talented employees through an Applied Technology Coalition.

New Cohort planned for 2011

  • IND-116 Applied Technology (3 credits)
  • SAF-127 Industrial Safety (2 credits)
  • SDV-106 Preparation for Employment (1 credit)

Purpose

VWCC Quick Connect is an 8-week evening intensive training program that prepares students for entry-level positions with Roanoke-area manufacturing and industry. It is an initiative of Virginia Western Community College and is guided and supported by Virignia Western's Applied Technology Coalition.

Occupational Objectives

Upon completion of this program, students will have earned 6 college credits (applicable towards a career studies certificate in Advanced Technology); an OSHA 10-hour General Industry Safety credential; and a Commonwealth of Virginia Career Readiness Certificate Plus. They will also have the oppportunity to take the VCATS certification assessment for Entry-Level Manufacturing Technician.

Curriculum Admission Guidelines

Applicants must meet the general admission requirements for admission to the college and will be required to successfuly complete the WorkKeys assessments in Applied Mathematics, Reading for Informaiton and Locating Information at the Bronze level or higher.
