Program Details

Entry level industrial maintenance technicians call upon a variety of skills in electronics, mechanical and digital systems to repair and maintain large and complex machines. Through on-line, classroom and hands-on training, students will build skills in an array of mechanical, electrical and technological areas including welding and maintenance, mechanical systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and electrical control systems. Students will use a variety of resources including Tooling University from the Society of Manufacturing Engineers.

Target Audience: Students who have completed the Basic Manufacturing Skills and the Manufacturing Production Technician programs

Program Length: 376 Hours Total, 5 Hours/session, (25 hours/week) for 17 Weeks

Credentials Available: Certified Maintenance Reliability Technician Certificate (CMRT); Siemens Mechatronics Systems Certificate Program (SMSCP) Level 1 Certificate; GMAW – AWS Stamped Welding Qualification; FCAW – AWS Stamped Welding Qualification; OSHA 10 General Industry Certificate; Manufacturing Technician Level 1 (MT1) Certificate; Career Readiness Certificate (CRC)

Basic Manufacturing Skills Training

MANF 2300: Mechanical Systems Maintenance

15 hours (3 Sessions)
Basic machines, machine statics and dynamics, shafts and keys, bearings, belt drives, chain drives, speed reducers, electric brakes and gear drives.

WELD 2242: Introduction to Welding

65 hours (12 Sessions)
GMAW and FCAW welding processes. Upon course completion, welding samples are inspected by an AWS Certified Welding Inspector. Successful students receive an AWS Stamped Welding Qualification.

ELEC 2200: Practical Electricity

45 hours (9 Sessions)
Introduces fundamentals of electricity; terminology, symbols and diagrams. Covers AC and DC theory with introduction to electrical machines. Includes principle essential to understanding general practices; safety; and practical aspects of electrical installations, motors and controls.

ELEC 2210: Electric Power & Control Systems

45 hours (9 Sessions)
Reviews basic AC and DC circuits. Covers single-phase and 3-phase power distribution systems and protection devices including types of AC motors. Presents analysis of control system and motor protection devices.

MANF 2330: Applied Hydraulics & Pneumatics

45 hours (9 Sessions)
Introduces the fundamentals of hydraulic and pneumatic systems found in equipment and controls. Includes basic theory, maintenance and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic power systems.

ELEC 2500: Programmable Logic Controllers

45 hours (9 Sessions)
Examines installation, interfacing and troubleshooting programmable logic controllers.
