Find Student Activities
Co-curricular activities play an important role in student enrichment, retention and achievement. Accordingly, organized Intramural and Intercollegiate team sports provide an opportunity for student development through athletic competition.
Team sports promote self-discipline, leadership, teamwork, interpersonal skills, and physical fitness.
Please contact Natasha Lee at 857-6326 in the Student Activities Office (Student Center 204) for more information regarding athletics at VWCC.
VWCC Intercollegiate Athletics
Virginia Western Community College is one of the 23 schools in the Virginia Community College System (VCCS). The VCCS Intercollegiate Athletics Board emphasizes the importance of academics and sportsmanship. As a part of the system, VWCC will uphold the standard of excellence at every level. We are looking to develop student-athletes to go to the next level in academics, sports, and life!
As of Fall 2008 the academic requirement for Intercollegiate Athletic Participation will be as follows:
- Complete VWCC Admissions and registration process.
- VWCC encourages student-athletes to take 9 credits per semester. If a student is registered for less than 6 credit hours they are deemed ineligible to play the remainder of the season.
- Must obtain at least a 2.0 GPA at the end of first semester attending VWCC. All VWCC coursework is considered, including dual enrollment courses.
- Must maintain at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA each semester.
- Must pass at least 12 credit hours per academic year.
Please note there will be academic support available and provided to work together as a team to achieve this success.
