Spring 2015 Tuition Payment Plan

To help meet educational expenses, Virginia Western Community College is pleased to participate in Nelnet’s tuition payment plan. For a non-refundable fee of $25.00, Nelnet allows monthly, interest-free tuition payments. The earlier students enroll the more payment options they may have. The payment plan for Spring 2015 will begin on November 17, 2014.

If a payment plan is not established or if tuition is not paid by December 4, 2014; students who registered early for classes will be dropped and will need to repeat the registration process. Financial Aid students are protected from enrollment cancellation up to the amount of their Financial Aid award. Financial Aid students should pay any differences between their total award and the amount due to prevent enrollment cancellation.

Payment plan sign-up instructions and deadlines will be posted on the Student Bulletin, Facebook, Twitter, www.virginiawestern.edu and on the VWtvs located across campus.

Step by step directions on how to enroll in a payment plan are available at http://www.virginiawestern.edu/studenthelp/student/tuitionpaymentplan.php

POST 9/11 VETERAN RESERACH STUDY

A retired Air Force sergeant and doctoral candidate at Liberty University in the School of Education is conducting a study of student veterans who have previously attended a western Virginia community college. The purpose of the study is to understand the experiences of student veterans who have stopped attending college. By interviewing student veterans, the researcher hopes to improve the experiences of future veterans.

What to expect: Individuals will be asked to participate in 1 or 2 confidential interviews and a focus group. The interview(s) and focus group should each last about one hour and I will audio record these for later analysis. I will also ask you to complete an anonymous survey that should take less than 10 minutes. Any information you provide would be confidential, and you can drop out of the study at any time. Participants will receive a $35 gift card.

Qualifications: U.S. military veterans discharged since September 11, 2001 and who were enrolled in a western Virginia community college for at least 12 semester credits and subsequently decided to quit without graduating. Participants must be at least 18 years old with a minimum of 90 days active-duty service.

If you, or someone you know, might be interested, please contact Don Cavendish at GCavendish@virginiawestern.edu or call/text STUDY to (540) 759-4878.

This study is being conducted under the supervision of the School of Education at Liberty University and has Institutional Review Board approval.
