The Subway in the new student life center is here to help. Subway is open for night classes until 9pm daily and serving normal menu items. So come on out, fuel your brain, and conquer your classes refreshed!

Free “Roanoke Valley Reads Book” for VWCC Students

Students --- Get a FREE copy of the 2014 Roanoke Valley Reads book! Brown Library and Student Activities are partnering to provide 30 copies of  Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. Book giveaway times are at 11:00am and 5:00pm on Thursday, September 18. The first 15 students who bring their student ID or class schedule to the top floor of Brown Library at or after the designated times and ask for the book will receive a free copy.

Roanoke Valley Reads is a community-wide reading experience that brings people together, promotes tolerance and understanding of differing points of view, and emphasizes the importance of literacy.

After making their way through high school (twice), big changes are in store for officers Schmidt and Jenko when they go deep undercover at a local college. Starring  Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill. Run time: 2 hours Rated: R. Comedy.

All faculty, staff, students and their guests are welcome to attend. All movies are free!

Blackboard Update

The Fall 2014 update is scheduled for September 13 beginning at 6:00 pm. Blackboard will be back up for use by faculty and students by September 13 midnight.

This upgrade will not affect users as much as previous upgrades have. There is a document on our eLIT website with the new features of the upgrade on this link   http://www.virginiawestern.edu/elit/faculty/docs/bb/BlackboardApril2014Release.pdf for your review.

Hall Career Center staff can help you improve your resume! Bring a copy of your resume to one of the scheduled "Power Hours" below for a brief one-on-one review and individualized recommendations. No appointment is nescessary during the days and times listed below and individuals will be seen on a first come,  first served basis during the indicated hour.

       Resume Power Hour:

Mondays: 11:00 a.m. - Noon 
Fridays: 1:00 - 2:00 p.m.

Today's (9/11) Men's Soccer match at Bluefield College is postponed due to pending thunderstorms.  Rescheduled date TBD.

Free Salsa Dance Class

The Fitness Center will be offering FREE Salsa Dance classes for all currently enrolled students, faculty & staff!

Where: Fitness Center Studio

When: Tuesdays/Thursdays from 2:30pm - 3:30pm (through October 2nd)

Constitution Day Events

September 17th, Constitution Day!

Join the Student Activities Department for an afternoon with Patrick Henry and James Madison as they argue the ratification of the US Constitution. The debate starts at 12:15 on Sept. 17th  in the Student Life Center, 3rd Floor, and stick around after the debate is over to take a selfie with two of the most well known Virginians in history.

We will also be providing decorative cupcakes for students during the debate and in the food court after the debate is over.
