System Outage

!! SYSTEM OUTAGE !! The Student Information System will be unavailable from 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24th to 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 25th. These systems will be moved to the new data center. MyVWCC and Blackboard will remain available.

Wellness Workshop Today at the Fitness Center

Fitness Tools to Build Your New Body

Need some ideas for how to use the tools in the fitness center? This workshop is for you! Come prepared to try out the bands, medicine balls, weighted bars, jump ropes, and dumbbells. Come prepared ready to workout!

Basic Nutrition for Get Fit Challenge 2015

Learn why a healthy diet is important and how to make dietary changes for better health and weight management. Carbohydrates, proteins, and fats will be explained, as well as, how to put them together for healthy meals/snacks. Learn why "diets" succeed and fail and how to be on the look for less reputable programs. How to exercise, along with nutrition, fits into a healthy lifestyle will also be covered. Feel free to bring your lunch -- light refreshments will be provided.

More about the Psi Beta Honor Society & Psychology club

Psi Beta Honors Society - A national honors society for students in two-year colleges. Promotes excellence among psychology students in scholarship, leadership, research and community service.

Psychology Club - Provides social, academic and service opportunities for students interested in psychology. Psi Beta (see Honors Societies) is a national psychology honors society for students in 2-year colleges. You do not have to be a member of Psi Beta to be a member of the Psychology Club.

New York City Trip!

See the sights of New York City!
The Armed Forces Student Association is hosting a 3 night, 4 day trip to New York City, May 9th-12th, 2015. The cost starts at $599 per person and includes transportation to and from New York City, hotel accommodations at The Row NYC (On 8th Ave only 1 block from Times Square), admission to a Broadway show, a four hour guided tour of New York City, admission to the Empire State Building, dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square and a ferry ride to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.

Come out and support your Virginia Western's Mens Basketball team tonight as they take on Roanoke College's JV  team at 7pm!

All home games are played in the Humanities Gym (H100) and are free and open to the public.

Learn to Crochet!

If you've ever wanted to learn to crochet, or if would like to learn how to make that perfect stitch, come join us Monday February 2nd and 9th from 3-5pm in S307 for free a crochet class!

Club Fair!

Come out to the Student Life Center on January 26th and 27th from 10am until 2pm for an open house featuring all of the available student organizations we have to offer at Virginia Western! Student groups will be available both days to tell you more about what they do and how becoming a part of one of the over 20 groups we have will help you become a more successful student.

Spring Student ID’s

Student ID office is located on the third floor of the Student Life Center, in front of Subway.

Spring ID office schedule (minus holidays and school closings):

Monday – Thursday        8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Friday                                  8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Students who need a new ID need to bring a copy of their fall schedule with their name on the schedule printed January 1st or later, phone or tablet schedules from the Virginia Western app are also acceptable. Students must bring a government issued photo ID along with their EMPLID number.

Students with VWCC IDs just need to bring a copy of their schedule to get their Spring 2014 sticker. We no longer have open computer terminals next to our ID office, so students must have their schedules before they come to the office.

Spring/Summer Graduation Application Deadline

The spring graduation deadline and the summer graduation deadline (if attending ceremony) is February 20, 2015. If you have not already done so, meet with your faculty advisor and complete your graduation application and on-line cap and gown order. We look forward to helping you fulfill your graduation requirements.

Planned System Outage: SIS (PeopleSoft) 6 p.m. Saturday, January 24 to 8 a.m. Sunday, January 25

SIS (the PeopleSoft Student Information System) will be unavailable from 6 p.m. Saturday, January 24 to 8 a.m. Sunday, January 25 as the VCCS Systems Office in Richmond relocates these systems to the new data center.  HRMS (the Peoplesoft Human Resources System) will also be unavailable during this time.

MyVWCC and Blackboard will remain available.  Please contact the Virginia Western Help Desk (helpdesk@virginiawestern.edu or 857-7354) if you have any questions.

Please plan accordingly.
