Hip Hop Cardio: Mondays 8:30am-9:30am Dance to the beat and burn calories.

Hard Core: Mondays 9:30am - 10:00am An intense 30 min workout for the power house.

Mindful Meditation: Mondays 12:00pm-1:00pm Stop breathe observe and connect with your inner experience.

Step it UpTuesdays 11:30am - 12:30pm Get your heart pumping! This class utilizes a raised surface, choreography.

Yoga: Tuesdays 12:30pm-1:30pm ,Wednesdays 11:00am-11:50am and  5:30pm-6:30pm Intermediate stretch and flow class. Internal focus for energizing and calming.

Sculpting Blast: Tuesdays 5:30pm-6:30pm and Thursdays 8:30am - 9:30am A weight-based class targeting specific muscles. Uses medicine balls, weights, and bands.

Buns, Guns, and Guts: Wednesdays 12:30pm-1:30pm Focuses on booty, arms, and abs. Uses hand weights and mild cardio.

Pilates: Thursdays 5:30pm-6:30pm Lengthen and strengthen your entire body using core muscles and incorporating strength training.

Zumba Fitness: Fridays 12:30pm-1:30pm Dance-based fitness that use a fusion of Latin and International rhythms with easy-to-follow moves.

Wellness Workshop

Basic Nutrition for Get Fit Challenge 2015

Learn why a healthy diet is important and how to make dietary changes for better health and weight management. Carbohydrates, proteins, and fats will be explained, as well as, how to put them together for healthy meals/snacks. Learn why "diets" succeed and fail and how to be on the look for less reputable programs. How to exercise, along with nutrition, fits into a healthy lifestyle will also be covered. Feel free to bring your lunch -- light refreshments will be provided.

Rapids Men’s Basketball This Week

Come out and support your Virginia Western's Mens Basketball team on January 31st as they take on Davidson County Community College at 3pm!

All home games are played in the Humanities Gym (H100) and are free and open to the public.

Virginia Western Club Carnival Today and Tomorrow

The clubs and student organizations will be coming out in troves to entertain and enlighten the VWCC student body Monday and Tuesday (January 26 & 27) from 10-2 on the 3rd floor of the Student Life Center. Come out and experience the spectacle! Witness the delight! Be part of the magic!

Clubs members will be on site to answer any questions and to inform you about all the upcoming projects that they will be bringing to our campus this year. Also there will be groups hoping to start up future student organizations here at VWCC that are looking for interested and like minded individuals to be part of the process.

Spring Volunteer Fair- Get Involved!

Need to fill your volunteering requirements for CCAP? Searching for internships with a local nonprofit? Interested in boosting your resume? Looking for service opportunities for your club? Want to make a positive impact on our community?

This spring, the Student Activities Department will be hosting 15-20 non-profit organizations that make positive impacts on the Roanoke Valley. This is a great opportunity to make connections and ask questions!

Participants include: Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Rescue Mission, the American Red Cross, Roanoke Valley SPCA, Habitat for Humanity, Center in the Square, the Salvation Army, the Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue, the Blue Ridge Land Conservancy, Carilion Clinic Hospice, Feeding America, FRIENDS of the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Roanoke Diversity Center, and more!

VWCC Winter Blood Drive Tomorrow

Virginia Blood Services will be holding their 2015 VWCC winter blood drive this Tuesday (January 27th) from 10-3 in the new Student Life Center (room s307).

If interested, you can sign up online at www.vablood.org or at the Student Activities Department but walk ins are always welcome! All donors must present a valid ID or VBS donor card at registration.

Free T-shirt for all presenting donors!

Philosophy Club Meeting

The philosophy club will hold its first meeting of the semester next Thursday, January the 29th in the Student Center, room S307, from 4:30 to 6:30pm. The discussions for the semester will focus on the concept of justice, an integral component of ethics. Any and all interested students are welcome to join us and voice their opinions about each meeting's topic. We hope to provide a forum for students to engage one another in fruitful debate on many of the important concepts and difficult problems in today's world. Our goal is to open up unchallenged ideas for discussion and to inspire the deepest curiosity for life's biggest questions!
