Pursuant to President Barack Obama’s Presidential Proclamation to lower the United States flag in honor and remembrance of Nelson Mandela, I do hereby order that the flags of the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Virginia are to be flown at half-staff on all local, state, and federal buildings and grounds in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
I hereby order that the flags shall be lowered immediately and remain at half-staff until sunset on Monday, December 9, 2013 provided that the flags are properly illuminated during the hours of darkness. Where no appropriate night illumination exists, the flags shall remain at half-staff only from sunrise to sunset each day through Monday, December 9, 2013.

The Armed Forces Student Association is sponsoring the Toys for Tots donation boxes across campus. Help brighten a child's Christmas today by donating new, unwrapped toys. The donation boxes are in W305, the second floor of the Fralin Center and in Humanities by the gym. The drive ends on 12/8/13 so take a few minutes to help make this holiday season even better for a child in need.
"Signups for the spring 2014 trip to NYC have begun. Starting today until 1/15/14 you will be able to begin signing up for the trip. The trip included 2 nights and 3 days at the Wellington Hotel in Midtown Manhattan, admission to Top of the Rock and the American Museum of Natural History, a tour of NBC Studios at Rockefeller Plaza, dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe in Times Square and breakfast at the hotel on our last day there. The trip also includes transportation to and from NYC.
A $100 nonrefundable deposit is due at the time of sign up, and the remaining balance is split between two payments. All money is paid to the cashiers window in Chapman Hall, be sure to bring your signup sheet to them so they know what to charge you. The link below has all the paperwork you need to sign up.
