Women’s Volleyball season begins!

Your Women's Volleyball team will play their first matches of the season Saturday, September 7, starting at 2:30 PM.  Your Blue Stars will face Rockingham Community College and Vance-Granville Community College in a Saturday tri-match.  Admission is free for current VWCC students with their student ID cards.  The complete Volleyball season schedule can be found at http://www.virginiawestern.edu/studentlife/volleyball.php.

Campus Commons Food Vendors

Food vendors are now open in the Campus Commons. Java the Hut is open 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Friday; Domino's is open 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. on Friday. Enjoy!!!!

New Academic Schools

Over the summer, the College reorganized our academic schools. The new schools are:

• Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (LASS). This school includes departments/programs such as English, public speaking, foreign languages, humanities, history, government, psychology, art, communication design, administration of justice, human services, and early childhood development. The school office is located in H111 on the first floor of the Humanities Building and the interim dean is Amy Anguiano.
• Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). This school includes the sciences, such as biology, chemistry, physics and geology; engineering technology programs; engineering; and mathematics. The school office is located in A114 on the first floor of Anderson Hall and the Dean is Dr. John Anderson. For questions about a science course or program, please go to A114 even if your science class meets in the new Center for Science and Health Professions. For engineering or engineering technology questions, there is an engineering department office in W305G.
• Health Professions (HP). This school includes nursing, practical nursing, dental hygiene, radiography, radiation oncology, and phlebotomy. The Dean for Health Professions is Carole Graham and the school office is HP214E on the second floor of the Center for Science and Health Professions.
• Business, Technology, and Trades (BTT). This school includes business, accounting, IT, culinary, horticulture, paralegal studies, welding, and HVAC. The school office is located in W305 and the interim dean is Deborah Yancey.

Free opera performance on campus

 Join Opera Roanoke director Scott Williamson and Amy Cofield as they put on a free on-campus opera performance for Virginia Western students, faculty and staff to celebrate the upcoming season of the Met Live in HD. They will be singing on Wednesday, September 4, at Noon in the Humanities Building atrium. Please come by and prepare to be wowed!

Student ID Office Hours and Schedule

Fall 2013 Student ID hours begin on August 21 from 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM.  Students need a copy of their fall schedule with their name and student ID number on the schedule printed or showed August 2 or later.  Students must also bring  a government issued photo ID. 

Students with VWCC ID just need to bring a copy of their schedule to get their Fall 2013 sticker.

The student ID office is located on the 2nd Floor lobby of the Thomas Center. The remaining semester hours are below.

Fall 2013 Student ID Hours:

August 21 - 22          10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

August 26 - 29          10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

September 3 - 5       10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Mondays, Sept. 9 – Dec. 2      10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Tuesdays, Sept. 10 – Dec. 3      2:30 – 5:30 PM
