Book Drive/Early Childhood Literacy Awareness Days

The 2013 Week of The Young Child is April 13-20 and the theme is Early Years Are Learning Years.  This is an annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The purpose of the Week of the Young Child™ is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.

The Virginia Western Volunteer Center and the Early Childhood Education Department is holding a children's book drive/Awareness Day to serve literacy needs in our community.

Please bring new or gently used books for Pre-K through 5th grade students!

When: Wednesday, April 3, 11-2 & Thursday, April 4, 2-5

Where: Craig Hall, outside the Campus Bookstore

The Campus Bookstore will be offering a new book, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, at a reduced price.  This is one of Virginia's pre-selected children's books for Week of the Young Child.

All books will be donated to TAP Head Start.
