This is the true story of twelve-year-old Sadako Sasaki, who was stricken with “radiation sickness” (leukemia) ten years after the bombing of her city, Hiroshima. Her quest to fold a thousand origami cranes in pursuit of a wish for peace has inspired people around the world. This play pulls from traditional forms of Japanese drama to celebrate Sadako’s hope for peace in the world.
Information and instructions for folding cranes on the study guide for this play, located at: http://www.bartertheatre.com/young_audiences/players_tour.php.
