COMMUNITY OPPORTUNITIES

Black Tie Student Affair Presented by Bella Magazine, Saturday, April 27. A high fashion runway show presented by local students. Quality designed looks created by students will grace the runway. Any students majoring in fashion marketing, fashion merchandising, design, etc., or students having any sort of interest in fashion, clothing, designing, styling, modeling, etc. are welcome to participate. All students under the age of 18 need parental permission. The event will be free to the public. Dress code will be enforced.

Looking for: Serious student designers and student models only (please check guidelines), make-up artists, hair dressers, sponsors, participants, volunteers, etc.

Designer Guidelines: We are looking for quality work! Designers must currently be enrolled in school (local high school or college/university). The theme is Black Tie Affair – we expect to see high fashion, very chic, up-and-coming & emerging looks all crafted and designed by students. If students want to use their own model, please make sure to follow the model guidelines. Student designers are allowed to submit more than one look. Please submit looks by March 5, 2013 via email.

Model Guidelines: We are looking for about 20-25 models to catwalk! Please follow guidelines in order to participate. Models should be 5’6”+, slim/slender, dress size: 0-6, and must be students (currently enrolled in a local high school or university/college). Models need to audition. We will have a model call. Date TBA.

Sponsors/Participants: Bella Magazine will be promoting this event in our April issue and on social media. If your business is interested in sponsoring this event, please contact us via email. Since we are making this event free to all attendees, there is no budget for any expenses. This is all based on 100% volunteer participation.

Please let us know by March 5, 2013 if you are interested in participating! Email us for more info! Contact Tea Hadzic thadzic@beckmediagroup.com or Emily E. Burnette eburnette2@radford.edu

WOMEN’S OUTDOOR SOCCER LEAGUE: Need women 18 + years old, especially over 35, to join Roanoke Valley Women's Soccer League's new recreational division this spring. Desperately seeking "play for fun" women. The cost is $50 for 10+ games. The games are Sundays in the afternoon at Botetourt Sports Complex (usually) from March 24 to June 2.No experience necessary -- we will fumble the ball together. This sport is a bun burner; we play 80-minute games with breaks at 20 minutes. The club (recreational) division has 2 teams and each team needs more players. We get to choose a team color and name so come be soccer divas with me! I'm 62 years old and really want women somewhat close to my age with which to play. Email Edna at ewhittier@virginiawestern.edu with your name and experience. For information about the league go to RVWSL.info.
