Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) Update

Virginia Western is currently working on our ten year reaffirmation process with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS-COC).  SACS-COC is the primary accreditation agency for school systems, colleges and universities throughout the southeast region of the United States. As part of this process, Virginia Western is designing a Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) to improve student learning and/or your learning environment.

In the spring, advising was chosen as the topic for the QEP since it received the most votes from students, faculty, and staff.  The topic was further refined in a survey which ended in August.  The topic of our QEP will be Advising Teamwork.  The QEP Development Team has proposed the following working goal.  Through team advising, students will learn how to set and achieve their own educational success goals.

We are forming additional QEP teams for fall and spring where we want student involvement. If you are interested in learning more about the QEP, there will be a SACS/QEP Update session in the Natural Science Center on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 from 12-1 pm for all faculty, staff, and students who would like to attend.

If you have questions, suggestions, or concerns related to the QEP, please feel free to contact Ms. Kristel Clark at kclark@virginiawestern.edu or 540-857-6218.
